PATH - Working Together for Play.

Peoples Health Trust

In May 2017 PATH started a new project, Playing in Poplar funded by the Peoples Health Trust.

The project was informed by local Mums who wanted to find out more about what play spaces and opportunities there are close to their homes around St Pauls Way, Violet Road and Lincoln estate and to be involved in holiday play events in the area.

Project Support Worker Khalida coordinates forums, or play get togethers as participants suggested we call them. Local people decide themes, we've been on a walk around Poplar play spaces, done local summer trips, drawn our own board games and worked togther to apply for funding to improve a play space on Lincoln estate. People who want to be involved with holiday events can sign up for training in Food Hygiene and First Aid.

PATH promotes the benefits of playing outside, we also understand that cold weather means having an indoor option is a benefit too.

Diring the last year 20 local people have attended First Aid and Food Hygiene training and we hope they will get involved in future play based events locally.
