PATH - Working Together for Play.

Morgan Stanley Healthy Cities

Healthy Cities London is a project funded by Morgan Stanley, PATH started work in April 2015 and have been busy playing around Poplar since.

We have delivered outdoor play sessions at Lincoln, Burdett and Lansbury North estates, managed by Poplar Harca. Two new play spaces have been created, one at Lincoln in 2015 and at Hind Grove in 2016.

Thanks to everyone involved in sharing ideas for both the spaces, Lincoln has a nest swing, trampoline and bench and additional funding from Tower Hill Trust paid for improved lighting a new bench in the old play area so Mums can sit and chat while children play.

At Hind Grove the funding paid for new markings on the run down old football pitch, not just for football but poles and markings for tennis and basketball too. Children wanted a trampoline and months after installation it is still a popular place to go for a bounce after school. Funding was spent on playful resources, giant outdoor games like bowling, Jenga and 4 in a row as well as tennis bats and balls which have been used at summer 2017 outdoor play events and sessions by PATH and Poplar Harca.

Residents can borrow the games and sports resources, please contact Eleanor at PATH on 07966 396115 or eleanor@playtowerhamlets.org.uk to find out how.

Now in 2018 we have funding confirmed for one more year, the Friday play session at Lincoln estate continues, we will be delivering more play training, working with Poplar Harca and others to continue developing play opportunities locally.
